About Me

Following a long career as a Visual Arts teacher, being keen on pottery and having built seven kilns over the years, I became interested in wood fired oven cooking, design and building.

After much experimentation I have based the design on that of the Ancient Roman ovens as found in Pompeii, that is, a hemisphere with the flue at the front, independent from the oven chamber.

Although I have scaled down the size considerably and utilised modern materials. Why did I think I could be more clever than a few thousand years of Roman ingenuity.

Controlling fire with free fuel that's not contributing to extra carbon in the system, to produce outstanding foods is the best reward.

Our kiln and workshop area inspired by Antonio Gaudi.
